Very neat piece!  Looks to be made of a pottery clay (back is the orange pottery).  It was painted black sometime in its past.  Has some chips in the paint and such (see photos) and under the chin almost looks rusted but I believe it is the orange of the clay possibly.  Measures 17" from top to bottom and 14" across.  If hanging on the wall, it comes out from the wall like a 3D effect.  I found this a year or 2 ago in a storage unit auction I won and have been hanging on to it.  Figured it was time to let it go to a new owner.
