    Original badge attached to a steel plate of the Rumoi (Hokkaido) Self-Defense Forces
    Stalin, having designs on claiming all of Hokkaido as part of the USSR at the end of WWII, designated Rumoi as the point of invasion for the takeover. The US denied Stalin that option and established a USAF base. This plaque and badge signifies the Japanese maritime self-defense base established during the Cold War period.
