    Description

Up for sale is a JAPANESE WWII GUNTO NAVY WWII KATANA SWORD / SHARK SKIN / FAMILY CREST / WOOD BLADE!
    *****Caution!*****
The blade is made from wood. After WWII the original metal blade had to be given up, but the soldier could keep everything else and add a filler wooden blade which is the case here.
It is KOSHIRAE NAVY type saber.
    Could have been custom-made.
Shark skins scabbard were expensive even in that era.
I think it was probably the owner's order to reduce the weight.
It uses a particularly high quality shark skin.
Included is a tassel and very rare sheath cover.
A very small part of the sheath cover is torn seen in photo.
    Has a family crest attached.
