Most parts you see for sale are stripped of their original bluing or dirty/greasy. My parts are thoroughly cleaned, restored to their original rust blue finish, and ready to install.
Slow rust bluing is a slow, days long process to convert rust from ferrous oxide to black ferric oxide. This black oxide is a very corrosion resistant finish. This is not cold bluing, which is simply a surface coating. Rust bluing is a treatment that restores the the original blued finish.
