Vintage Ceramic Lion Figurine Mid Century Modern Home Grown Ceramic Artist Majestic 10" long King of the Jungle.
Length from back left foot to tip of nose approximately 10 inches.
Width at mane approximately 3 1/2 inches.
Height at head to front feet  7 1/4 inches.
Made of ceramic porcelain and signed by artist on the foot "GP".    Making ceramic art and figurines at home from commercially available molds was a popular mid century hobby.  GP's painting skills were better than most amateur at home ceramicists - the coloring is especially striking.
Condition:  As is typical of these ceramic figures ( the glaze chips easily exposing the white ceramic beneath) - there is a tiny chip on the bottom left front paw, another one the underside of the right heel and two on underside of back left foot.  I also note some manufacturing flaws - the left front paw has uneven chunky modeling and a few spots on the body surface that were missed when the shiny glaze coating was applied.  Not detracting and just mentioned for accuracy.
