Up for auction is a fabulous
Vintage Wood Carved Singapore MERLION Sea Lion
Statue Sculpture Figurine Wooden.
This is possibly from the 1960's.
The colors are bright ...there is no fading.
The Merlion is the national personificiation of Singapore.
Its name combines "mer" meaning the sea ...and "lion".
The fish body represent Singapore's origin as a fishing village
when it was called Temasek which means "sea town" in Javanese.
The lion head represents Singapore's original name ...Singapura
meanng "lion city" or "kota singa".
This has great detail and fine workmanship.
It measures 6" tall...
and still has its original paper label on the bottom.
This is in GREAT condition!
And we are a Smoke Free Home!
