Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB example of an WW2 Imperial Japanese Army Type 350 km/hr. Airspeed Indicator, as used in many of the Japanese Training Aircraft! This was specific to the Ki-86 "Cypress" (Japanese Licensed version of the German Bu131 Jungmann)...but was probably also installed in the Ki-57 "Topsy", Ki-9 "Spruce", and Ki-17 "Cedar"!This instrument measured the current airspeed by the use of air pressure. It was located on the main instrument panel of the Ki-86, Ki9, and Ki-17!
Made of brass and aluminum by Tanaka, this piece is of mid-war manufacture. It was taken from a downed Japanese Ki-86 aircraft by a US Serviceman just after the war. It still retains 95% of it's original finish, however, there is some marks due to the age, but nothing that take away from the overall appearance. The the dial still glows when UV light is applied. Features an mid war Type 4 aluminum data plate, clearly indicating the type and serial. The top screw that retains the dial is loose inside the housing...but that could be rectified if one wished.
Like most Japanese instruments, this gauge is VERY RARE and would be a FANTASTIC addition to any Japanese instrument collection.

As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
