Description
WWII Japanese Army Wooden storage box, fairly large crate that measures 26 inches long, by 10 inches wide, and 17 1/2 inches tall. Weighs roughly 25/30 pounds. I was told this was for Type 99 rifle parts, maybe an armors storage box? I do see the Japanese kanji designation for ( 99 ) as part of the kanji on the front of the box. Box has a triangle marking inside, alongside a small kanji mark, the small kanji mark is a final inspection marking for the Kokura Arsenal. Has the original hemp rope handles, one is broke, other tattered, but still there. Box needs some RESTORATION work done to it. Some new nails/screws for the left side lid edge and corner. The lock hinge needs a little wood filler putty around the top mounting bolt area, and new screws. Well worth the effort, as anybody who collects WWII Japanese militaria knows, finding any Japanese ordnance or related wooden crates/boxes..ect are very hard to find. So many did not survive the war unlike their numerous German counterparts that did. In fact you can find online dealers who make replica US, British, German, wooden military/ordnance boxes, and crates. But nobody makes any replica Japanese boxes as so few survived the war.Shipping is free for US buyers in the continental 48 states.
